Works on most any chassis and rear axle configuration. Controls rear axle laterally and works in conjunction with multi-link suspensions. 25-1/2-inch OAL Panhard bar measured center-to-center of rod ends. Panhard rod made from 7/8-inch DOM steel tubing and uses 5/8-inch rod ends. Rod ends are left hand and right hand threaded to allow adjustment on car. Frame and axle housing brackets made from A36 steel plate. Control Your Rear Axle’s Lateral Movement with This Easy to Install Panhard Bar Kit Factory suspensions, including leaf spring setups and triangulated four links provide some lateral control of the rear axle housing, but this control often comes at the cost of binding or suspension limitations. When upgrading these suspensions to such setups as a parallel multi-link with coilovers for additional control of your rear axle’s placement and the minimization of pinion angle change under acceleration, you will find that these systems do not have a way to control lateral axle movement when cornering. That is where the Panhard bar comes into play. The Panhard bar has been used in various suspension designs for over 100 years and is quite simple in design and function. The Panhard bar mounts between the chassis and the rear axle assembly, allowing the axle freedom to move up and down through normal suspension articulation without the axle moving laterally. Factory implementation of a Panhard bar has been used by all the major automotive manufacturers over the years, but these are fixed length bars where no Panhard bar adjustment can be made. An aftermarket universal Panhard bar kit is adjustable, which aids in centering the axle in the body. If there is any detriment to a Panhard bar (besides being a tad difficult to route tailpipes around) is that as the axle moves up and down the Panhard bar causes the axle to move in a small arc, changing the axle location laterally as the suspension moves
