Motul 8100 X-Cess 5W-30 is a 100% synthetic engine oil carrying official BMW LL-01, Mercedes-Benz MB 229.5, Mercedes-Benz MB 226.5, Volkswagen/Audi VW 502 00/505 00, and Renault RN0710/RN0700 approvals. Formulated with Full SAPS additive chemistry meeting ACEA A3/B4 and API SL/CF standards, this oil delivers a high HTHS viscosity of 3.5 mPa.s at 150 degrees C for superior oil film protection under extreme thermal and shear stress. The high Total Base Number of 12.5 mg KOH/g provides outstanding acid neutralization for extended drain intervals as recommended by European manufacturers. Designed for gasoline and diesel engines without Diesel Particulate Filters. NOT for DPF-equipped vehicles requiring BMW LL-04, MB 229.51, or VW 504 00/507 00, use Motul 8100 X-Clean instead. Compatible vehicles include BMW 3-Series (E46, E90, F30), 5-Series (E60, F10), X3, X5 with N52, N54, N55, and early B58 engines; Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W204, W205), E-Class (W212, W213), ML/GLE; and VW/Audi Mk5/Mk6 GTI, B8 A4 requiring VW 502 00. Kinematic viscosity 11.8 mm2/s at 100 degrees C, 71.7 mm2/s at 40 degrees C, pour point -36 degrees C, flash point 230 degrees C. 5 liter format.
I had high hopes for this oil given the recommendations, but it didn’t quite deliver like I expected. After a few weeks, my engine seemed to run rough, and I was hoping for better performance. Maybe it just doesn’t work well with my car. Really wanted to love it!

Decent oil but delivery was slow
Motul 8100 X-Cess is a solid choice for my car, meets all the necessary specs including the BMW LL-01 and MB 229.5 standards. However, I was a bit disappointed with how long it took to arrive. Oil seems good but I wish it had come faster!
