The Royal Purple Max Gear Oil has been specially formulated to offer ultimate lubrication to differentials, manual transmissions, as well as lower gear units of marine engines that specify use of API GL-5, or GL-4 fluid. This lubricant is non-corrosive to soft yellow metals such as brass, bronze, copper, etc. It is synchronizer safe, and specially designed to extend both gear, and bearing life. Royal Purple engineered this lubricant to be ultra-tough gear oil to provide maximum protection to heavily-loaded gears while maximizing power throughout the drive train. The Max Gear will outperform ordinary gear oils by combining the highest quality synthetic oils with Royal purples proprietary Synerlec additive technology. Max Gear allows gears to run smoother, quieter, cooler, as well as longer without the need of overhauls. Trucks, as wheel as 4-wheel drive vehicles can benefit from this lubricant with the direct reduction of drag in the drive train. This particular Max Gear Oil is available in the 75W90 viscosity.
I switched to this Royal Purple gear oil recently, and wow! My differential runs much smoother now. The 1-quart case is just the right size for my needs too. I’m glad I made the switch; I feel more confident tackling tough terrains now.

Decent but pricey
This gear oil works well, but honestly, I think it’s a bit overpriced for what it is. It does the job in my truck, but I’ve used other brands that perform similarly at a lower cost. Still, it’s nice to have for peace of mind on those long drives.

Best gear oil I've tried
I’ve tried multiple brands for my motorcycle, but Royal Purple really stands out. This synthetic gear oil keeps everything lubricated perfectly. I love the 75W-90 viscosity; it feels like my bike handles better. Highly recommend if you're into high-performance riding!

Packaging issues, but good oil
The oil is great, no complaints about its performance in my SUV. However, the case arrived with a dented corner, which was a little disappointing. Thankfully, the oil bottles themselves were fine! Just be careful when ordering.

Stopped working too soon
I wasn't impressed with this oil. After just a few weeks, I noticed some grinding noises that I didn't have before. I followed all the guidelines, but it seems like it didn’t hold up as expected. Very disappointed with how quickly it failed.
