An engine coolant temperature sensor measures coolant temperature. It does this through changing resistance and sends this information to the onboard computer. The computer uses this and other inputs to calculate the correct amount of fuel delivered. Symptoms of failure include no start, engine flooding, steady check engine light and/or poor fuel economy. Recommended service should be performed every 25, 000 to 35, 000 miles and consists of cleaning or replacing sensors that are non-functional. I find this sensor works fine, but it doesn’t seem as durable as I hoped. For the price, it’s okay, but I might look for something more robust next time. Installation was a breeze, though!

Great sensor for my engine!
Installed this Walker Products coolant temperature sensor in my 2004 Honda Accord, and it works perfectly. The temperature readings are spot on, and I love that it’s easy to install. No more overheating issues!

Decent sensor, slight hiccup
This coolant temperature sensor does the job, but I had a tough time getting it to fit at first. Once installed, it works fine, but the instructions could be clearer. Just a little frustrating!
